Crown car hire frequently asked questions
1.- How will I find my car if my flight arrives late at night or is delayed? Whenever you pick up the car at an airport, it is very important that you write you correct flight number in your reservation request. Normally car rental service is offered at the airports until 23:00-24:00, depending on the car provider. If your flight is delayed, please advise the car provider directly in order to reconfirm the new pick up time and this way you can find out if they will offer service at the indicated time. |
2.- Can I drive the car to another country? Yes, you can drive to other European countries with prior consent from the provider and paying an extra insurance. It is completely forbidden to drive in North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, etc.) |
3.- Can all the members of my family (or friends) drive our hired car? No, only those specified in the contract may drive the hired car. |
4.- Can you deliver my car to any place other than your office or airports? Yes, we will deliver the car within a 10 kilometre radius from the car provider’s office, given a minimum of 7 days car hire. (Please note this service is upon request only). |
5.- Can I pay in cash? No, it is necessary to pay by credit car under the name of the main driver when you pick up the car. On this credit card they will block you an amount that will be unblocked once the car is returned in good condition. |
6.- Can I make a reservation or request a quotation by fax, e.mail or telephone? No, you may obtain an instant custom made quotation through our online booking system and the possibility to continue with a reservation. The price stated on the web site is the correct one (We reserve the right to correct prices in the event of typing errors or calculation errors). Please make sure your e.mail address is typed correctly. |
7.- Can I collect the car at any time? At the airport offices, car collection can usually be done 24 hours a day, provided you supply us with your flight details and arrival time. At other locations our providers usually have more restricted opening hours, generally from 09.00-13.00 and 16.30-19.30 from Monday to Friday, 09.00-13.00 Saturdays, and Sundays and local holidays they remain closed. |

9.- May I collect and return the car to any office? Yes, providing the collect/return selector allows you to do so. If the selector does not give you the option then it is not permitted. Cars hired on the Canary Islands and the Balearics may not be taken or returned to another island. |
10.- Can I push or tow other vehicles? No, you cannot use the vehicle to push or tow other vehicles. |
11.- Can I make a reservation for a specific model of car, fuel or colour? No, we cannot accept reservations for a specific model, fuel or colour. We can only confirm the car group. This means a car group where all cars have similar specifications. |
12.- What does the insurance cover? Depending on the rent a car company you select, the insurance in most of the cases will be fully comprehensive with no excess to pay. Please check the EXTRAS section next to the logo of the rent a car company when making your quotation online. Please note there are some cases which are not covered by any insurance: Lost of keys, damage to the underside of the vehicle, damage to wheels and glasses, damage to radio-cd or upholstery, use of wrong fuel, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, lost or stolen car parts (spare tyre, jacket...etc., any damages that are not on an accident report. |
13.- What will I do if my car breaks down? All our cars are new and replaced after 6-8 months of use. Should any failure occur you may call the car hire company and they will solve the problem as quickly as possible. |
14.- What do I need to hire a car? You need to be in possession of a valid driving license with a minimum standing of 1 year (in some cases 2 years) and to be in possession of a credit card. The minimum age of the hirer must be 23 years. |
15.- How much will I pay for a full tank of fuel? Obviously the price of fuel will depend on the model of car, pick up location, and the price of fuel at the time. The price varies from 70 Euros for the smaller cars and 150 Euros for the larger cars. |
16.- What does Direct Pay mean? Direct Pay simply means you pay when you collect the vehicle. (Please note when you collect the vehicle it is essential to pay credit card with most of the rent a car companies) |
17.- Is there a cancellation fee? In prepaid bookings, free cancellation within 48 hours of making the reservation. After this time, you will be charged an administrative fee of € 18 or the equivalent to the amount previoulsy paid if it is less than this amount. It is not posible to cancel a booking after the reservation date and time. If we do not receive the cancellation request before the pick up time, no reimbursement will be made. If your reservation has an after hours service, it is convenient that you advise us at least 24 hours in advance or you can also contact the car rental company directly. |
18.- Do the cars have air-conditioning? Yes, most car groups include air-conditioning unless indicated otherwise. By looking at our online quotation you will find the specifications for each group. |
